Turn completed work into a pitch an editor can use

Find a public-interest angle in documented work and create outlet-specific articles, pitches and submission notes.

Where it came from: The September 2026 Sacramento pack contained ten articles and outlet-specific pitches with sources, guideline limitations and commercial disclosures. Later work addressed an editor comment in a shared draft.

Package status: Draft package; structurally checked; not verified in Claude.

You give it

  • Documented completed work
  • Target reader or geography
  • Relevant author background
  • Publication targets and constraints

You get back

  • Full article drafts
  • Tailored pitches
  • Guideline and source notes
  • Submission and exclusivity status checklist

A founder can spend weeks building something and still have nothing useful to send an editor. The work may be real. The pitch explains only what the product does.

An editor needs a reader consequence: a local decision, a documented pattern, a surprising limitation or a practice worth examining. The product can establish why you know the subject. It does not supply the whole story.

We used this approach in a Sacramento editorial project in September 2026. The completed collection included ten articles, publication-specific pitches, source notes and commercial disclosures. The subjects came from work already underway. Later revisions addressed an editor's comments on a shared draft. Those are concrete deliverables and editorial work. They do not establish that every article was accepted or published.

The reusable skill is the process that connects documented experience to a suitable publication.

# Build an editorial pitch pack

Find a public-interest story in the user's documented work and package it for appropriate publications. The evidence must justify the story; a product feature alone is not automatically editorial news.

## Identify the story and publication fit

Inspect the supplied work, evidence and publication targets. Separate facts already observed from the author's interpretation and proposals. Find the consequence for readers: a local decision, overlooked mechanism, documented pattern or useful practice.

For each promising outlet, verify its current official submission guidance when research tools are available. Record date checked, audience/geography, article or pitch format, word limit, submission route, required bio/materials and exclusivity terms. Mark inaccessible or conflicting rules as unresolved; do not treat an old directory listing as verified guidance. Without browsing, use supplied guidelines with an explicit verification gap.

Match the strongest story to each outlet's actual audience. Avoid identical mass pitches. Disclose the author's relevant commercial interest and distinguish operating experience from independently measured customer outcomes.

## Create the pack

Provide the requested article, pitch or set of alternatives. A useful pitch contains a specific headline, reader consequence, evidence the author can provide, why the author is qualified, and one narrow editorial ask. Explain whether the article is complete, proposed or available for exclusive consideration. Do not promise unpublished evidence the user cannot share.

For a full draft, keep the argument within the chosen format, cite primary sources, label hypothetical examples, and separate proposed policy or practice from existing requirements. Verify legal or regulatory claims against current official sources when they are part of the story. Avoid converting anecdotes or small samples into population claims.

Include a brief bio and a concise submission checklist tailored to the outlet. Keep private contact details, unpublished evidence, internal commercial numbers and personal addresses outside the public article. Put any required private submission fields in a separate user-review note.

## Track status and respond to edits

Keep a small record of article version, target outlet, guideline cutoff, exclusivity status and submission status. Drafting does not establish that something was submitted, accepted or published. Do not offer the same article exclusively to multiple outlets at once.

If the user asks to address editor feedback, read the actual comment and current draft, make the narrow correction, and preserve citations and agreed scope. In a shared document, inspect its current revision before editing and verify the resulting text. Posting a comment, emailing a pitch or submitting a form requires authorization for that action; writing the pack alone grants none.

Deliver the articles and pitches, source/guideline notes and any remaining fact or submission gaps. Reconfirm time-sensitive rules before an actual submission.
