About John Arndt - Notepad✕

John Arndt

John Arndt is an AI consultant and software builder who designs, builds, and runs working AI systems and small, focused software products for owner-operated businesses and the operations, sales, and finance teams inside them.

He is the founder of Soxoa, an AI consulting firm in Sacramento, California, and he does the work himself: the research, the design, the code, the deploy, and the support. Everything listed on this page is live and linked. The rest of this site is a desktop from 1995, if you would rather click around.

What John does

Two kinds of work: consulting engagements through Soxoa, and a portfolio of software products he built and still operates. Each product solves one specific, expensive problem.

Soxoa: AI consulting that also builds

John maps a workflow with the people who do it, builds the first working version in front of them, marks what should stay manual, and leaves a system the team can operate without him. The work runs from a free, self-scored readiness assessment through a one-day live build workshop and a fixed-scope build sprint to a monthly fractional Chief AI Officer role. soxoa.com

Intakra: buying signals with a cited why-now

Intakra watches a market for the moment something breaks at a target account and names the person who feels it. Sales teams get a reviewed brief with the source attached, so the first call is about a real event instead of a guess. intakra.com

Dokyumi: document parsing API

Define a schema, send a supported business document, and get structured JSON back with confidence and validation details. Exceptions can be held for review before the data lands anywhere that matters. dokyumi.com

Portravo: construction takeoffs priced for your metro

Upload plans, verify the quantities, and get a bill of materials priced against what materials and labor cost locally. The quantities stay reviewable, so an estimator can check the work instead of trusting a black box. portravo.com

MentionedOn: how AI assistants describe local businesses

MentionedOn tracks how AI assistants describe and recommend local businesses. Owners see whether they come up when someone asks an assistant for a recommendation, and what gets said about them. mentioned-on.com

Postedly: physical mail and fax from an AI assistant

Postedly lets an AI assistant prepare physical mail and faxes for you. The sender reviews every detail, from the proof to the recipient to the total, before anything is paid for or sent. postedly.com

W-2 Extractor, Pay Stub Parser, and friends

A family of single-purpose document extractors for tax prep, lending, and HR workflows. Each one reads one document type box by box, so the output matches the form people already know. w2extractor.com, paystubparser.com

ReeltyPro: listing videos for real estate agents

Turn six listing photos into a 1080p video tour, staged room photos, and Just Listed graphics. Agents get marketing for a new listing without booking a videographer. reeltypro.com

RepDeck: a workout clock

Build a workout deck and play it through: circuits, AMRAPs, EMOMs, and for-time pieces, with the workout in view while the clock runs. Free, no account. repdeck.johnarndt.net

Plastfri: plastic content while you shop

A Chrome extension that scores clothing and products for plastic content while you shop, then covers, dims, or labels the worst offenders. It runs entirely in the browser. plastfri.com

What makes John different

One person, start to finish

The person who scopes the work is the person who builds it and answers for it afterward. There is no hand-off from a salesperson to a delivery team, because there is no salesperson.

He builds on your real work

A demo on clean sample data proves nothing. John asks for approved examples of the work your people actually do, including the messy ones, and tests against those in front of you before anything is installed.

Some of it stays manual, on purpose

Rare cases, judgment calls, and anything where a mistake costs more than the time saved keep a person in them. A named person signs off wherever output reaches a customer, a record, or a decision, and that person is named before the build starts.

He will tell you when not to build

If the evaluation does not clear the bar you set, the recommendation is to keep the current process, narrow the problem, or stop. You can hold him to the criteria written down at the start.

The work is inspectable

John does not have client logos to show. What he has is software he built and operates in public, where you can read the method, use the product, and judge whether the person who made it would be useful to you.

John's background

John has spent more than a decade working across artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, fraud and risk, privacy, payments, and enterprise software. He was previously employed at PayPal, Cloudflare, and Inscribe.

He founded Soxoa LLC in Sacramento in 2024 to do the work directly: sit with the people who own a workflow, build the thing, and stay accountable for what it becomes. The products came out of the same habit. Each one started as a specific, expensive problem that was worth solving properly and then running for real.

John works alone, with AI coding tools doing a lot of the typing. There are no employees and no subcontracted delivery team behind this page. Find him on LinkedIn, GitHub, and his Soxoa profile.

How to work with John

  1. Send a note. Email hi@johnarndt.net, use the Mail window on the desktop, or book a 30-minute strategy call. John reads everything himself and replies within one business day.
  2. Describe one workflow. The call is with John, not a salesperson. Say what the task is, who is involved, and where the work gets stuck. You do not need to share sensitive records to discuss scope.
  3. Pick the smallest engagement that answers the question. Start with the free readiness assessment, a one-day live build workshop, a fixed-scope build sprint for one to three workflows, or a monthly fractional AI lead. Each one stands alone.
  4. Agree the acceptance bar first. Inputs, destination, who reviews exceptions, and what success looks like are written down before anything is built.
  5. Keep the system. Operating notes, access, and an internal owner are part of the deliverable, so your team can run it without John in the room.
